Celebrating Women - Part 3 of 3

In part 3 of 3 of our mini-series, we interviewed Jennifer from the Primal Sisters.

Located on Vancouver Island, Jennifer and her sister Tamara are also in the keto-friendly, preservative-free snack food business and are making waves in British Columbia with their Louis Pasture Pork Crisps!

Tell us about yourself, your company!

Hi! We’re Jennifer and Tamara, two sisters who started making pork rinds 5 years ago and selling at the Farmers Market. Now, you can find Primal Sister’s Louis Pasture Pork Rinds in 70 stores across BC and sell online to the rest of Canada.

What achievement in your professional journey are you the most proud of?

We are very proud of how far we’ve come having no food manufacturing experience when we started. Perseverance and hard work is key! Also thriving despite the pandemic we are so grateful and thankful for.

What makes a great leader?

To be a great leader you must be committed to always listening and learning. We are always reading new books and listening to informative podcasts.

Why is it important to support other women in the industry?

It is important to support other women because you always get back what you give out. Usually even more so. Also to break the cycle of viewing other women as competition and view them as amazing allies instead.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve received from someone?

The best advice we’ve received was to never stop learning. Our mother was always reading and learning.

How do you move forward after receiving criticism or feeling challenged?

When feeling challenged we remember why we started and what our goals are. And when criticized we always try to respond in a remarkable way to leave the haters speechless :)

What do you have in store for your business in 2021?

For 2021 we are looking to expand our product line and our production level!
