One question we often get asked is: Is your packaging recyclable?
The short answer is: Yes and no.
Here’s why…
For food safety reasons, our bags must contain a “barrier layer” which reduces the transmission of oxygen and moisture through the bag. Without this barrier layer, our products would be susceptible to mould growth. And no one likes mouldy food. Unless it’s blue cheese, then it’s delicious.
Unfortunately, everyday municipal recycling facilities do not have the ability to recycle our multi-layered plastic bags. And for this reason, you cannot throw our jerky bags into your blue box.
However, we know where our jerky bags can be recycled, and we will help get them there through our new Jerky Bag Return Program.
