Well, we’ve made it to the end of 2020. Holy smokes! What a year?!
It has been, without a doubt, an extraordinarily challenging year for so many people and businesses. Isolating ourselves from family, friends, and colleagues for so long has been extremely difficult. Businesses have faced unprecedented hardships including lockdowns, changing business environments, and economic uncertainty.
For us, we miss you the most! No live events, no trade shows, no in-store demos. We miss connecting with our customers and community in person. We miss meeting new people, sharing stories, and seeing people’s smiles when they first try our jerky. We hope all of this returns soon.
As challenging as this year has been though, we don’t want to lose sight of the positives - the milestones, the partnerships, and the community support. We decided to reflect on our past year and share some of our 2020 highlights. So grab a piece of jerky and read on!
We celebrated our 1-year anniversary on the market.
July 26, 2020 marked our first official year on the market! From selling our first bag at the Muskoka Boat & Cottage Show in 2019 to now having our jerky sold in more than 300 stores across Canada, we couldn’t be more thankful for your continued support, and that we could celebrate this milestone with all of you this year. Back in April, we partnered with BrewerEats, a multi-brewery delivery service in Toronto/ GTA that delivers a variety of craft beers and ciders (and jerky) from Ontario breweries right to your door!

We hosted a number of local giveaways throughout the year with other great Canadian businesses - trulocal, Hardbite Chips, Red Thread Brewing, Explore.Ontario, Market Brewing and more, and we look forward to partnering with other local and small businesses!

A good word to sum up this year? Adapt. And as small business owners navigating through a pandemic, we had to do exactly that! We were fortunate to share how we sustained and grew Dick Duff’s Organic Jerky amid COVID-19 with Muskoka411 and Parry Sound Now this past summer on MooseFM. From strengthening our online presence, hosting giveaways, partnering with breweries, and working with online grocery stores to name a few, we figured out how to reach our consumers safely and effectively.
